Destin Part 1

Last week I was on vacation in Destin, FL! This was the first time I had been there, and I absolutely loved it. The whole trip was so much fun, and I can't wait to share all of my pictures and stories from this past week with you!

Saturday: July 14, 2012
We left early last Saturday morning and got there Saturday night. The first thing we did was check out our condo - it was SO nice!

This was the entryway.

Having my own bathroom was definitely the highlight of the condo - ha! Definitely something I didn't take for granted last week!

We grabbed dinner late that night at a place called Pompano Joe's. It was really crowded, but we ended up getting a seat outside overlooking the ocean. It was nice to finally have some shrimp on the beach!

Sunday: July 15, 2012
On Sunday we woke up and drove to Santa Rosa Beach. I was getting Senior pictures done there, so we wanted to go early and scope it out before we had to come back at night.

The place was absolutely beautiful! The little town was called Watercolor, and it was the cutest area.

They even had a Lilly Pulitzer store - I loved that!

Then we did some grocery shopping, had lunch at our condo, and set out to drive around and explore the rest of Destin.

We stopped at a Target, and my dad didn't understand what was so cool about a Target with palm trees in the parking lot, but my mom and I thought it was the neatest thing ever. Why doesn't my Target have palm trees????? Ha! Everything really is better in Florida!

We hit the beach after exploring, and then I got ready for my Senior pictures! I had 2 outfits, but this was my first one. I bought this dress awhile ago, but I hadn't worn it yet, which was driving me crazy since I had spent good money on it. So, I had to take a few pictures of me finally wearing it!

We stopped for ice cream on the way since we didn't have time to eat before the pictures. My chocolate brownie ice cream was delicious!

Then it was time for my pictures! We walked around Watercolor a little since we were early.

I can't wait to get my pictures back - I'll have to post some of them when I do! My dad took a few pictures on the beach as the lady was taking my pictures....

Then we had dinner at this crazy place called the Red Bar. It was SO loud, and they didn't actually have menus - just a chalkboard with a few choices. Kind of different, but still neat.

Monday: July 16, 2012
Monday was a nice relaxing day. We hit the beach in the morning, had lunch in our condo, and then went to the pool in the afternoon. That's always our little routine on vacation. We had the pool mostly to ourselves too!

We had dinner that night at Bubba Gump's! Their hush puppies and shrimp mac & cheese are to die for!

After dinner we went to Destin Commons, which was a cute outdoor shopping area - right up my alley!

We got our daily ice cream fix there too :)

Sorry for picture overload, but I just love posting about my vacations :) I'll do another installment soon!

3-2-1 Cake

My mom came across an incredibly easy (and delicious!) dessert recipe a little while ago that I thought I'd pass on to you today!

It's called a 3-2-1 Cake. It really couldn't be any easier to make. It's also only 2 Weight Watchers points (I think), and if you know anything about Weight Watchers, a decent sized 2 point dessert is hard to come by!

All you have to do is buy a box of angel food cake mix and any another boxed cake mix you want. It HAS to be angel food for the first box, but it doesn't matter what brand! And then I would suggest a chocolate cake mix for the second box, but vanilla would probably be good still too.

Then mix the 2 dry mixes together and store in a large plastic resealable bag. So easy, and so cheap! Then when you want a quick dessert, mix 3 tablespoons of the dry cake mixture with 2 tablespoons of water in a bowl. Then microwave for 1 minute. And that's it!

It comes out looking like your own mini cake :)

Now, I would suggest putting some kind of toppings on it too. I always put strawberries on top, which makes it extra delicious. You could add any fruit though. Or chocolate chips, chocolate syrup, or any other yummy toppings!

Another thing I've started putting on top is a little bit of French Vanilla Cool Whip (my favorite!).

A few tips.....
1. The bowl comes out extremely hot, so you might want to pull it out with a towel :)

2. For some reason, the cake smells so weird when you heat it up in the microwave. Maybe it's just my microwave, but it smells kind of gross (just when it's heating up - not the cake itself!). If it smells weird to you, don't worry - it actually does taste good.

3. Since the cake does come out hot, if you add Cool Whip on top, the Cool Whip has a tendency to soak into the cake. I actually like this, since the French Vanilla Cool Whip gives it a lot of flavor, but if you don't like that you could always wait a few minutes until it cools down to add the Cool Whip.

I really suggest making it! You don't use a lot of the mix for each cake, so 2 cake mixes really last a long time too.

Humor Me

One of my new favorite past times is looking through the "humor" section on Pinterest. There are SO many funny things on there! These are just a few of my favorites though......

Totally true!

If you can't read this, you can see it bigger here!

SO funny!

I seriously love those ecards! They're all so funny :)

Makeup Monday {New Favorites}

2 posts in one day! That never happens :) But I wanted to do a post about Coco's birthday, and a makeup one, so here it is....

I haven't done a makeup post in awhile, but I was just thinking the other day about how I've got some new favorite products that I thought I'd let you know about!

Sonia Kashuk Brushes
I can somehow justify spending more money on nice makeup, but I can't seem to justify spending a ton of money on makeup brushes! Maybe it's just me, but I don't see how a $30 brush can be that much different from a $10 one. There must be some kind of difference, but I'd rather spend my money on better makeup! So, my favorite budget friendly line of brushes is Sonia Kashuk from Target!

I have their crease brush and powder brush, both of which I like!

They sell them in sets too. I think these brushes are really cute!

Charlotte Ronson Compact
I heard about this online, and I thought I'd give it a try, and I really like it! I bought it at Sephora, and it comes with a highlighter, blush, and bronzer. I don't use the blush because I'm obsessed with my Nars blush, but I love the bronzer and highlighter. The highlighter has a little bit of a sparkle to it, which I personally like!

They're Real Benefit Mascara
This is by far one of my favorite makeup finds ever! I absolutely love this mascara. It really does make your lashes super long. I only started using it a few weeks ago, and I've already had a few compliments from people on my eyelashes. Love that! If you're looking for a new mascara (or even if you aren't!), I'd highly recommend this!

Super Strawberry Chubby Stick
I've written before about my love for Clinique's Chubby Stick, but recently I got a new color, Super Strawberry, and I'm obsessed with it! I like it a lot better than the Mega Melon that I already had!

That's it for now! Hopefully I'll find some more new favorite products to share with you later!

Happy Birthday Coco!

Today is Coco's birthday! She's 5 today.

When she was about a week old, we went to pick her out. She was seriously the size of a beanie baby! I wish she was still that little :) And look - she even stuck her tongue out when she was a baby!

Here's some pictures of her through the years.....

This was her on the day we actually brought her home!

She's seriously the craziest dog ever, but I don't know what I'd do without her!

Happy Birthday Coco :)
