Project 365: January

I decided to do a thing called Project 365 this year, where you take a picture every day for a year. I have an app on my phone that I'm using to do it, but I wanted to transfer the pictures into a blog post so I know for sure that I'll always have them. I'm going to post my little descriptions of them too, otherwise I'll never remember them! So I'll probably be doing one of these posts at the end of every month :)

Brio's and Other Weekend Fun

I had such a fun weekend! On Friday we had a girls night dinner with my mom's side of the family. We don't normally do that, and it was so fun! We went to dinner at Brio's, which is always delicious!

It was my mom, aunts, and cousins who all went. So fun!

I had lasagna - it's the only thing I've ever eaten there because it is just so good!

We all got mini desserts too. I picked out the chocolate carmel cake. It was fun treating ourselves to a fancy dinner :)

Maddie and I at dinner.

After dinner we went over to Barnes & Noble to walk around for a little bit. My little cousins had so much fun wandering around the kid's section. My cousin Maddie looked so grown up sitting down to read her book!

How cute is my other little cousin, Savannah? :)

That night I came home and slept for 13 hours! I don't know if I've ever slept that long at one time. It felt SO good though - for once I wasn't tired during the day :)

On Saturday my mom and I ran some errands in the afternoon. My mom ended up breaking her sunglasses while we were out, so we decided to make a quick stop at the mall so she could pick up some new ones. Since we went to a mall that is really close to Orange Leaf, we had to stop there too!

Saturday night we rented some movies, and relaxed at home. Nothing overly exciting, but it was nice to have a bit of a relaxing day!

Today was a busy day because I had a practice ACT this afternoon. I still don't know how I got to be this old. I feel like college should still be about 10 years off :)

After the test, my family went out to dinner, and then down to the Aronoff Theater because we had tickets to the show, Billy Elliot, tonight! The story line was a little hard for me to follow, but the dancing was amazing. I'd recommend it just because the dancers were so good!

I hope you have a great week!

A Day in the Life

I've seen a bunch of people blog about their "average day", so I thought I would do the same. I think it would be interesting to look back on this years later and see how my "average day" has changed!

So here's a glimpse into a day in the life of me......

6:00 - I wake up every day around 6 to get ready for school, eat breakfast, catch up on blogs, etc.

7:00 - leave for school

7:25 - I get to school early pretty much every day so I can do some last minute studying for the day :)

7:45-2:34 - I'm at school during this whole time. Right now, my classes include: Art, AP AB Calculus, Social Justice, Spanish 4, AP Chemistry, AP American History, and AP English. I've got a busy and rough day! And yes, I do actually get dismissed at 2:34 - I'm not sure why we dismiss at such a random time!

2:40-2:50 - drive to babysitting

2:50-5/5:30 - I babysit everyday after school until around 5 or 5:30, it just depends on when the parents get home! I was nervous about how this would work out with my difficult classes, but it has been great! Normally the kids like to watch TV or play downstairs/upstairs, so I can always get some of my homework done!

5:30 - dinnertime - my favorite time of the day :)

6:00-10:00 - This is the time of day where I pretty much finish up anything I need to get done. Most days I'll finish homework, and take a shower. On Mondays I have piano practice, and on Thursdays I usually go to my grandpa's house. If I'm lucky, I might have some time to relax, watch TV, or watch a movie. Having a lot of free time is rare during the week though, so usually I do most of my relaxing on the weekends!

I'm one of those people who needs tons of sleep, so I usually try to get in bed by 10. I could never be like most of my friends who are up until 1am. 10:30 is usually my limit - ha!

This probably wasn't the most interesting post to read, but like I said, I think it would be interesting to look back on this post in future years.

I hope you have a great weekend. I've got a busy weekend planned that I'm so excited for :)

March for Life 2012

I've been missing from my blog the last few days because I've been in Washington DC for the March for Life! This was my second time going, and I had a lot of fun with my friends. This trip was different from last years, but it ended up still being pretty fun.

We left Saturday night and drove all through the night. My friends and I were really smart. We headed to the back of the bus first, and we each got 2 seats all to ourselves. It was nice having a little extra room to spread out on. I slept a lot better than I did last year!

The first thing we did when we got there was go to the Basilica. It's really neat, but this was my 3rd time going, so I had pretty much already seen all there is to see. We walked around for a little bit, and then sat down and relaxed in the cafeteria for about an hour - ha!

Next, we boarded the bus again and headed downtown. I always love seeing the Washington Monument!

We went to the Holocaust Museum again this year, and I'm really glad we did because last year we missed the main exhibit!

We had to wait in a line to get in, so we were having fun taking pictures outside!

In the main exhibit, you get a card with the story of a real person from the Holocaust, and at the end, you find out whether you lived or died. Unfortunately, my person died. The exhibit is really neat though and very eye-opening. It's so hard for me to imagine something like this happening to me.

We ate lunch afterwards, and then we went on a monument tour!

We passed the Bureau of Engraving and Printing. I went on a tour there a few years ago, and I loved it!

Our first stop was the Jefferson Memorial.

The view of the Washington Monument from the Jefferson Memorial....

My friend Melanie and I.

Then we went to the FDR Memorial. I'd never seen that one before, so it was neat finally being able to see it. My friends and I had a lot of fun taking pictures all around it.

I thought this dog statue was too cute!

I think this picture is so funny!

Next up was the Martin Luther King Memorial, which was another cool one that I'd never seen before.

Lincoln was the last one we went to, which has always been my favorite memorial for some reason!

After the monument tour, we turned on a movie, I fell asleep for about an hour :), and we headed to the church where we were sleeping for the night. Once we got there, we ate dinner, played a few games, and then had adoration. It was a neat experience, although I wasn't too thrilled about sleeping on a tile floor :)

We got up really early in the morning to go to the Verizon Center for a Youth Rally and Mass.

It was really neat! The mass lasted 2 hours, but it was probably the coolest mass I've ever been to. This is part of the procession of priests coming in. It was just really neat because they had upbeat music, and there were SO many people and cultures there.

We ate lunch when mass was over. The lunch was give to us by the church we had slept at the night before. I thought it was so cute how all the little kids had decorated our lunch bags for us!

Then we did the actual March for Life! That is definitely something to see, and if you ever have the chance to go, do it! It's a real eye-opening experience. I unfortunately didn't take any pictures of the march itself because it was raining! Oh well!

We met back up with our group at the Air and Space Museum. I would love to have the time to actually walk around this museum - it just seems so fun!

We got back on the bus and started our drive home. We stopped for dinner around 8, and the highlight was getting Starbucks. Just what I needed to get me through the rest of the bus ride.

They even had a cake pop flavor I'd never seen before - raspberry. I loved it!

We finally made it home after being delayed an hour at dinner because our bus had something wrong with it, and we had to switch to a new one. That was a big pain, but I'm so glad to be home now! It felt so good to sleep in today and take a nice hot shower.

I hope you all had a great weekend. I'm so excited I only have a 3 day week now!
