Remember When: Coco

Today's Remember When Wednesday is all about my dog and how I got her!

In case you haven't noticed, I have a dog named Coco. She is a Shih-Tzu, and she is currently 3 years old. So, here's the story of how we got her (plus a lot of cute pictures!):

In 6th grade, I decided I wanted a dog. I convinced my parents (which wasn't as hard as I thought), and then we started our research. We eventually figured out that we wanted a Shih-Tzu. Someone who used to work with my dad had just recently got a Shih-Tzu. So, one Saturday we went over her house and played with her puppy. We really liked her, so we asked her for the information about where she got her puppy.

We called this place and talked about their puppies. They had some puppies that we would be able to take home at the end of August. BUT, my parents were going on vacation in September, and we didn't want to have to go through the trouble of potty training her, and then break the routine.

However, the people we got her from told us that we could wait and pick her up after my parents got back in September.

We decided to go through with it and get her. Her brithday is July 16, 2007. About a week after she was born, we were allowed to go pick out which dog we wanted to get.

The breeder we got her from lived in the middle of the country. It was a crazy farm, and the people were complete hillbillys, but they were really nice.

The puppies were SO tiny and absolutely adorable.

(Notice the little tongue sticking out - ha!)

We knew we wanted a girl, and we also wanted an all-black dog. There were 2 female black ones, and I was holding one of them, and I just knew that I wanted that one. Since we picked her out so early, I don't know for sure if we got the same dog I originally picked out, but I think we did :)

Then I had to go home and wait to actually get Coco for another couple months.

When my parents got home from Key West, we got to go pick her up! I was so excited. She had grown a LOT since we had picked her out.

To be honest, I was really upset when we brought her home. She didn't want to do anything - she didn't walk, eat, or play. All she did was sleep. Thankfully that stage passed, and now she plays with me all the time!

When we got her, I never thought she would turn out to be an allergic psycho, but hey, I wouldn't trade her for the world. It kills me how much she has grown over the years.

I can't imagine having any other dog. Sometimes she's so crazy and I get mad at her, but most of the time she's just so sweet.

But I have to say that my favorite thing about her is the fact that she constantly sticks her tongue out. It's pretty much the cutest thing ever. :)

New Ideas

If you read my blog on a semi-regular basis, you know that I mainly blog about what is going on in my life. I especially like to blog about the weekends and what I've been up to. I love blogging about what's going on, but during the week, I have a hard time coming up with something to write, so most of the time I just don't blog.

Well, I've been wanting to change that, so I've come up with some new ideas.

The first one is my Memory Monday, which changed to Remember When Wednesday.
(speaking of which, my first Remember When Wednesday will be up tomorrow morning!)

Well, I've got another idea to get me blogging more throughout the week. I'm calling it: Music's in My Soul.

I'm going to be sharing my favorite artists, albums, and songs! Plus a lot of YouTube videos to go along with each post! Hopefully you find some new songs or artists you didn't know about before.

Anyway, I have 6 topics that I've divided up over the next few months. About once a week I'll post my favorite songs that fit that topic. And if you have any songs you would like to share, go for it and post about it in the comments section.

Here are the topics and the dates when I'll be posting them:
1. Country - April 5
2. Old Favorites - April 12
3. New Favorites - April 21
4. Inspirational - April 29
5. Upbeat - May 5
6. Boy Bands (my personal favorite) - May 10

I'm excited to post about music because I absolutely love music! Hopefully I remember to post these though....... :)

I See You Driving Around Town........

I was too busy to blog about the weekend last night, so I'm finally getting around to it today! I did a short post on Friday, but I wanted to do a longer post with the rundown on my weekend.

On Friday, I mostly stayed home and relaxed. It was actually really nice. I watched a lot of DC Cupcakes and Say Yes to the Dress episodes. But the big exciting news about Friday night is that my dad got a new car!

(I tried to take some pictures, but the sun kept reflecting off of it....)

When my parents came home with the car, we took it out for a drive and got some ice cream!

On Saturday my mom wanted to show the new car to my grandpa, so we headed out there and then we stopped at Target. We got Starbucks (go try their new cake pops - they are SO good) and walked around. We headed home for a little bit, then went out to dinner at Chick-fil-A! We had to kill some time, so we went to Target for the second time in one day - ha!

After Target I went over my friend's house to watch a movie. We ended up watching Misery.
It was pretty creepy, but it was really good too!

Sunday was another busy day! After church, my mom and I headed out to the mall. We got Yagoot and Auntie Anne's for lunch. (So, it was pretty much the best lunch) I didn't buy anything, but I found some cute shoes I'm going to keep my eyes on!

Then we had my aunt's 50th birthday party. We had dinner at their house, and then went to see my cousin's boyfriend's house. Then we went back to their house for cake and ice cream.

I've got to share a funny story about my cousin too. My cousin Brandon is 5 (I think), and he is a technology whiz. He is amazing at Angry Birds and was doing better than all of the adults last night. Well, the other day he went up to my dad and asked him, "Do you have an iPhone or an Android?"

My dad's answer: "I have a phone that makes phone calls."

HAHAHA. My dad has a basic phone that doesn't even have a camera. It was just so funny that my cousin thought the only phones out there were iPhones and Androids.

Well, that's the rundown of my weekend. I'll have my Remember When up on Wednesday, and I think it's going to be a good one with a lot of pictures!

Friday!

It's finally Friday! This is just going to be a quick and random post. I'll probably do another post either Sunday or Monday on the weekend. But, I wanted to share some really random thoughts from today........

1. Trust
Today we had Confession at school. The advice the priest gave me was to focus on one word: trust. I almost laughed out loud. Simply because trust is the word I choose for this year. My goal I wrote at the beginning of the year was to trust more! How cool is that? I think it's a sign - I for sure need to work on trusting more now!

2. Instagram
The iPhone seems like all of the rage lately. I would LOVE to have one, but the monthly data plans are something I can't afford at 15 :) LOL. I do have an iPod Touch though, which I love. Everyone has been talking about the Instagram app for the iPhone. Turns out you can use it on your iPod touch too! So, guess who is obsessed with the app now? That's right, me!

The app is SO easy to use and it makes your pictures look so cute.

This is an old one from Disney a few years ago:

3. Remember When Wednesday
You know my Memory Monday? I'm going to change is to Remember When Wednesday. (Memory Wednesday just didn't sound as good!) It's just going to work out better for me to get the post up on Wednesday. It's hard to get it up right after the weekend, especially since I usually like to blog about my weekend on Sunday night.

Well, that's about it!
Have a good weekend!

Memory Monday: Sleepovers

It's Monday - Memory Monday!

This is going to be a short post, but I love this memory!

When I was little, I used to have the best sleepover parties with my cousins, Melissa and Catie! We would bake cookies, put on make-up, and watch movies.

But one of the sleepovers is particularly memorable for me!

One sleepover we went to Kroger's and we each got our own pint of Ben and Jerry's. This is my personal favorite:
(my mouth is watering just uploading this picture)

Then we watched Jessica Simpson's concert DVD! (which I still have - ha!)

We were all into Jessica Simpson. We knew almost all of her songs. I just remember eating Ben and Jerry's, watching the DVD, and singing along.

When we woke up the next morning, we ate our pints of Ben and Jerry's for breakfast.

Those were the days.......

I'm thinking I'm going to have to go buy a pint of Ben and Jerry's soon and break out my Jessica Simpson DVD.

Anybody with me? :)

My Weekend

I had a really great weekend! It was busy, but in a good way.

Friday night I went to my friend Nicci's sweet 16 birthday party.

Saturday was a low-key day. I went out to dinner with my family at the best Mexican place around. Yummy! Then I went to my friend Abby's house. A lot of my friends were over there and it was great to see some of my friends who I don't get to see that often.

I also got to knock out one of my 101's.
55. Learn to French Braid.

I have NEVER french braided before (I don't think I've ever had my hair French braided either......). But my friend Rachel let me try on her hair. I did it. I have a lot of room for improvement, but I have to start somewhere, right?

Today was yet another busy day. I got up early and worked on some homework before I went to church. Then my friend Rachel came over so we could bake cupcakes for our Art class. It's art week at school and tomorrow's theme is eat art day. I love the way our cupcakes turned out!

I got to cross off another 101!
7. Bake and decorate fancy cupcakes.

Then I ran some errands with my mom. We stopped at Target, and look what I got........

A dolphin pillow pet! My cousin got a dolphin pillow pet a little while ago, and I've wanted one ever since. But I could never find them! So when I finally saw one at Target I had to get it.

How cute is it????

While I was out I also found one of those wall quotes that I wanted to get.

I love these quotes, and I've always wanted one for my room.

Talk about a successful weekend?
89. Find a quote that I love and hang it on my wall.
I got to cross off another 101! That's 3 in one weekend!

Check back tomorrow for my Memory Monday!

Birthday Party!

Last night was my friend's 16th birthday party! For her party we did a scavenger hunt. We had to run around town taking pictures/videos. Then we all met up at her house and looked at all of the pictures and videos everyone took. It was so much fun. I had a great group of girls to go around with, and we really got into it! Here's the pictures/videos we took:

Go to Nicci's Grade School and take picture of group in front of school

Go to Nicci's Relative's house and take a picture of whole group with Nicci's Relative on her porch.

Get a picture of the whole group at the greatest Girls High School around.

Find someone wearing a Seton shirt and take a picture of group with that person.

Make a short camera video singing Happy Birthday to Nicci.

Get a picture of the group with a guy/teenager wearing an Elder shirt of some type. Use hands/arms to make an "E" in the picture!

Go to any fast food restaurant and order something while singing their "jingle" - get it on video.

Go to famous Chili place and get picture of girls sharing one coney to go.

See if you can get a picture of one of you flipping a burger at a fast food restaurant with a SMILE!

Go to any park and take a video of the whole group pretending to play Nicci's favorite sport.

We didn't have anything on the list about a firefighter, but when we saw a fire truck pass us, we asked them to wish Nicci a Happy Birthday anyway!

Go to restaurant with the large statue of the "large, young male" and take a picture of the group standing around it!

Get a member of your group to go into any store and try on something that is way too big and ask a clerk if it fits. Get on video.

One of our tasks was to get a police officer to sing the National Anthem or God Bless America. We couldn't find any officers, even when we went to the police station! But we got a picture of us there anyway.

Go to a family friend's house and sing 2 Christmas songs and get it on video.

Take a vidoe of your whole group doing the Macarena dance together in a public place.

Get a picture of the group with Seton's mascot!

We had so much fun driving around and getting these pictures/videos! Our group was totally into it, which made it even more fun.

Flooding

These pictures are ones I took on Monday. We have had a lot of flooding around here, and the park we walk at was under water! I was back there today and all of the water is pretty much gone, but I wanted to post these pictures because I thought it was wild and crazy!
