What I've Been Up To

I haven't posted about what I've been up to lately, so I thought I'd just pop in real quick and do a short post on the last week.

Lately I've been...

...cuddling with Coco...

...experimenting with cake pops...

Octopus!

Beach balls

Monograms

Mint cookies & cream - yum!

Bride & groom

...putting bows in Coco's hair...

...babysitting my cousins and taking them to visit Coco...

...watching the Olympic Opening Ceremonies with this dog's chin on my leg - hahaha!...

...reminiscing on how this time last year I was on a Caribbean cruise...

...swimming with my cousins...

...eating cotton candy...

...buying this adorable Olympic Medal nail polish collection (gold, silver, and bronze!)...

...using power tools :) ...

...and finally hanging up this cute Paris picture that I actually bought a year ago.

And that's been my week! I can't wait to see what this next week has in store for me!

London 2012

I am NOT a sports person. Sitting around watching football on TV is just about my worst nightmare. Even watching sports live is not that interesting to me. I love going to Reds baseball games, but I like that mostly for the atmosphere, not for the game :)

But for some reason, I love the Olympics! I would never think about watching swimming on TV any other time except during the Olympics.

I love the fact that they're in London this year too! I'm totally fascinated with England and the Royals! London is pretty high on my list of places to visit.

I watched the Opening Ceremonies last night too. I think that's the first time I've ever watched the whole thing. It was SO neat! I think one of my favorite things about the Olympics is that the whole world basically comes together for it. I think it's so cool to see all the different customs and traditions from all over the world. I was cracking up watching the Ceremonies though because pretty much every athlete from around the world had an iPhone that they were taking pictures with. I guess deep down we're all pretty much the same despite our backgrounds :)

My favorite events are gymnastics and swimming! Those are the ones I'm really looking forward to. I remember watching Michael Phelps win all of those gold metals 4 years ago, and I can't wait to see how he does this time.

Go USA!

Summer Reads

When I was on vacation last week, I brought along 2 different books with me. I have 4 different books I have to read this summer for school, so I thought I'd give myself a break last week and just read a few books I wanted to read for fun. And it felt SO good. I absolutely love to read, but I hardly ever have time to read "fun" books because I'm either really busy or have so many books I have to read for school :/

But anyway, I brought these 2 books with me hoping that I could finish them during the week. I normally don't read on vacation, but it might be my new favorite thing now! I loved reading on the beach or by the pool - I'd actually never done it before.

The first book I read was called Red Velvet Revenge by Jenn McKinlay.

It was SO good and right up my alley! It was a mystery book (which I love!), and it centered around a cupcake bakery. What could be better than that?!?

Then I also read There's Cake In My Future by Kim Gruenenfelder.

This one was really good too! The title caught my eye (can you a theme going on here....), and it was a really fun book. A lot more adult content than the Red Velvet Revenge, but still a great read!

I actually finished both of these books before the week was up, so I stopped at a bookstore down in Destin in order to pick up another book. I got Sprinkle with Murder by Jenn McKinlay. This is actually the first book in her Cupcake Bakery Mystery Series. Since I had liked Red Velvet Revenge a lot, I figured I would give this a try too!

This one did not disappoint! There's a couple more books in this series that I'm dying to read too. I just need to get my butt moving with my summer books so I can get back to reading fun ones!

Have you read any great books lately?

Destin Part 3

This is my last post on Destin! I so wish I could go back right about now :)

Thursday: July 19, 2012
We got up early this morning, had cinnamon rolls in our condo, and then rented scooters! I was SO happy that I was allowed to drive my own. It was so fun! We got them for 2 hours, and we just drove around, looking at the beach, exploring the area, and looking at all the different houses.

I have to add this picture in because I think I look SO tan in it, which doesn't happen too often for me :)

We even took a little video of me driving it. Probably not exciting to you, but I thought it was neat!

We had lunch in the condo, and then headed to Seaside! Seaside is this cute and quaint little town not far from Destin. If you've ever seen the movie The Truman Show, Seaside is where it was filmed!

I got a Red Velvet cupcake at this cute place called Heavenly!

We took these fun pictures on the beach too!

As we were driving back to Destin, it started to rain a little bit, so my mom and I decided to go to the Outlets! The Outlets in Destin were huge and had such great stores! Look at how cute this Starbucks even was there!

We went to the Back Porch for dinner. I loved that restaurant! My friend had recommended it to me, and I'm so glad she did. It was right on the beach - I love restaurants like that!

I even got a fruity strawberry drink too. Doesn't get much better than that!

After dinner we went to another cute little area called the Harbor Walk. It was just another outdoor place with shops and restaurants.

They shot off fireworks too!

Friday: July 20, 2012
On Friday we got up and ate breakfast at a place called Another Broken Egg. Three different people had recommended it to us, so we really wanted to try it. It was delicious too! I got the Cinnamon Roll French Toast, which was so yummy.

We walked around Baytowne Wharf a little bit again too since that's where Another Broken Egg was.

On our way back we stopped at the Outlets again really quick because I had seen a few items the day before that I kind of liked, so I decided to go back and get them. My best find was this Bare Escentuals makeup kit for $20. Yay!

Then since it was our last day, we went to the beach and pool one last time. It started raining though, which was kind of a bummer.

Since our beach and pool time were cut early by the rain, we went to another little shopping area called Grand Boulevard just to look around.

We had dinner that night at a place called Gilligan's, which overlooked the harbor.

We had our daily treat at 32 Degrees, which was a frozen yogurt bar that reminded me a lot of Orange Leaf - even down to the decor! I really liked the toppings better at 32 Degrees though. They had these caramel cups that were to die for!

Saturday: July 21, 2012
I always hate coming home from vacation! The only good thing about it though was that we took a different way home, which led through Chattanooga, where there was a Rita's. My family and I are crazy, but I'm totally okay with it :)

I finally got my favorite flavor too - Strawberry!

And that was our trip! I'm SO thankful to be able to travel every year. I don't know what I'd do if I had been stuck with parents who didn't like to travel - ha!
