New Favorite Playlist

I didn't post a What I'm Loving Wednesday post today because I've just been too busy to write one. So instead, I went through the list of posts in my drafts and randomly picked one to publish today. Over the summer I made a playlist for vacation, and I've loved it so much that I thought I'd share the songs on it.....

You'll Be In My Heart - Phil Collins

I'm not doing a What I'm Loving Wednesday post this week because I was just too busy to put one together. So I went to my list of posts in draft, randomly picked one out to publish, and this is it! Over the summer I made a playlist for vacation, and I loved it so much I thought I'd share it.....

I Just Wanna Celebrate

This weekend has pretty much been a busy one filled with parties and celebrations! So fun!

On Friday night I went over my aunt and uncle's house for my grandma's birthday. It's always fun to get together with my dad's side of the family. My cousin Hannah was cracking me up because she kept dangling a bag over the railing and trying to see if anyone would notice :)

On Saturday I got up and worked on homework in the morning/afternoon. I also did a lot of college stuff, and I submitted one of my applications - I still can't believe I'm old enough to be doing that! I'm definitely happy I'm doing it now though and not waiting until the last minute.

Then that night I went to my first ever bachelorette party! I felt old and young at the same time - I felt old being invited, but young since I couldn't go to the bars - ha!

The party was for my cousin Erin who's getting married in less than a month! I am literally SO excited for her wedding. They had a scavenger hunt in the beginning where we had to go around and take pictures of different things. It was cute because all of the things we had to do were somehow related to my cousin and her fiance. Some things we had to find included a paint strip from Home Depot (they're always doing home projects), one of their alma maters, reciting the Girl Scout or Boy Scout pledge since they both did scouts, dancing down an aisle, and finding an old couple to prove love lasts.

My personal favorite was the old couple. We had the hardest time finding any older couples at Home Depot or Target. So we stopped at Outback, and my aunt and I ran in together. We ended up finding an older couple, and we just went up to their table and asked if we could take their picture for a scavenger hunt. When we explained it to them, I don't think they understood, but they let us take their picture anyway, and they told us they had been married for 55 years. They were so cute and precious!

My aunt took all of the pictures, but I did get the video of reciting the Girl Scout Honor on my phone - ha!

Overall, the bachelorette party was SO much fun even though I couldn't go to the bars afterwards! Our team ended up winning the scavenger hunt too.

Today I went to the mall with my friend Rachel. She has her Senior pictures on Wednesday so she needed an outfit for that, and you know me - I'm always up for shopping! It was a fun and successful trip considering we got Yagoot....

....and I got a new pair of boots that were originally $70, but after coupons and discounts, I got for $35!

Then today is also my parents' anniversary. As of today they've been married 23 years! My mom posted some pictures from their wedding on Facebook today, so I thought I'd post a few of them here too!

I thought this was funny - one of my cousins made a comment on this post about how the baby in this picture is my cousin Erin who is getting married in less than a month. So weird how things change so much! I thought that was kind of neat though.

Since it was their anniversary, we went out to dinner at an Italian restaurant called Pompilio's. I had never been there before, but since I love Italian food, I thought it was great!

Then tonight my mom and I went over my Aunt Joan's house because she was having a going away party for her niece on the other side of her family. It seems kind of funny, but we know Stephanie really well because she's really close to my aunt and cousins, and so are we. She's moving to Nashville in a few weeks, so we wanted to say goodbye to her!

And that's been my weekend - pretty much non-stop partying!

A Cake Pop Post

So I realize that I blog a lot about cake pops since I absolutely love them, but I don't think I've ever done a post on why I love making them.

Like I mentioned yesterday, I made cake pops this week. A batch of cake pops makes about 50 cake pops.  And one of my friends paid me to make her 2 dozen cake pops, so I had some leftovers that I decided to go ahead and make for some of my friends. So I brought them into my Calculus class yesterday morning.

My Calculus class consists of about half girls from my school, and the other half are boys from the all-boys school next door. So all the girls had tried my cake pops before, but none of the boys had even heard about cake pops.

Now, I love bring cake pops in to people who've already had them before since they get really excited about it, but I especially love seeing people try them for the first time. Everyone ended up loving them like always. One of my friends told me that one of the boys said they were perfect because they're just the right amount of sweetness - they satisfy your need for something sweet, but they're not a huge indulgence. I thought that was the perfect way of describing them!

Another thing I like about cake pops? The fact that people don't see them or know about them a whole lot. I mean, if I made cupcakes all the time, they wouldn't be as neat because people eat cupcakes all the time. But cake pops? You can't find those just anywhere :)

I really honestly enjoy the baking and decorating aspect of cake pops. Most of the time when I make them, I crank up some good music, and I'll spend hours working on them and it doesn't even feel like any time has passed because I've been so into it. But something I like even better than decorating them? Seeing people get excited about them.

Another one of the my friends that she was having a bad morning, but when she saw that I had brought in cake pops, it made her day. That's what I love about cake pops so much - the fact that they can positively impact someone's day even if it's just a little bit.

I took a few cake pops to the kids I babysit, and they told me that I "make the best cake pops in the world". Even though my cake pops are the only ones they've ever tried, that totally made my day.

Last night I made the cake pops for my friend. She had asked me to make Sloth cake pops from the Goonies. I was a little apprehensive about it at first, but I found a picture of Sloth cake pops online, and I came up with my own way of doing it. I was so proud of how they turned out!

My friend loved them too :)

So that's what I think I love so much about baking - the fact that something I bake can put a smile on someone else's face and maybe even brighten their day. No matter what my future holds - whether I ever open a bakery or not - I know that I for sure want to bake the rest of my life!

Oh Happy Day!

This whole week has been pretty great, but yesterday was especially awesome! Nothing overly big and exciting happened, but it was just a bunch of little things that when pieced together just made for a fabulous day. Sometimes I need to be reminded that it's the simple things in life that can really make a difference, so here's my happy simple things from yesterday......

I got to sleep in an extra 30 minutes, which doesn't happen very often.

My Calculus quiz that was supposed to be on Friday got pushed back to Monday!

I watched a movie in 2 of my classes, and overall just had a pretty easy day school-wise. Some girls are on a retreat right now (which I already went on), so our teachers aren't doing a whole lot since so many people are missing the rest of this week!

I had Subway for lunch - a rare treat for lunch at school!

I had about 30 minutes of homework - a record low.

I didn't have to babysit, which makes that 2 days in a row! Don't get me wrong, I like babysitting but sometimes it's nice to have a break every once in awhile.

I made cake pops for my friends/Calculus class. I haven't made any for school in a long time, so I figured it was time! This was my first time trying out the smiley face ones, and I think they might be one of my new favorites.

My mom received news yesterday that she got a job she really wanted. It's actually the exact kind of job she's been trying to find for years. I'm so glad she got it! A few days ago, she told me that if she got the job we could save up the money and go on an Alaskan cruise in 2 years. So it looks like I might be going to Alaska! My dad will turn 50 that year, and it will be my parents' 25th anniversary. Alaska is pretty much my dad's version of my Paris - he's always wanted to go to Alaska, so I'm pretty excited that it might actually happen now!

And last but not least, I got to watch Ghost last night with my mom. I've never seen that movie before, and so far I'm loving it! We didn't have time to finish it, so that's on my list of things to do tonight!

Overall, it was just a great day! I love days like that :)
