I know not everyone in my graduating class reads my blog. In fact, I would be happy if 1 of them did. I don't really know who reads this and who doesn't, but I have heard people say they do over the years. And with graduation over, I wanted to write a quick note the girls I went to school with, whether they ever read this or not.......
It seems like just yesterday we were beginning our high school journey. Attending the Seton open house, taking the High School Placement Test, and going to the Evening of Distinction were all things we did before even stepping in the building as official Seton Saints.
And last night we took part in our final event as Seton students: graduation.
I can't believe it's all over!
The past few days have shown me just how blessed I have been to attend Seton. Growing up, Seton was the only high school I ever wanted to attend. My mom, aunts, and cousins have graduated from Seton, and I couldn't imagine going anywhere else.
I can still remember the first day of freshman year. I remember being nervous about getting lost. I was nervous because I didn't know that many people in a lot of my classes. Little did I know that the people I didn't know would soon become such great friends to me.
One of my favorite things about Seton has been how I have shared the majority of classes with the same group of girls. Thanks to Honors and AP classes, I have spent most of the day for the past 4 years with the same 20 or so girls. And as a result, I have come to know them so well.
We have made so many memories together that I will always cherish. From watching SO many videos in AP World Cultures sophomore year, to talking about different life questions in AP English 3 junior year, and of course having to recite the 1st Amendment word-for-word senior year.
The little inside jokes about AP English 3 period M being better than period IJK, to discussing boyfriends in APUSH, and "hearing the music" in AP Government are things that still make me smile.
But when I look back on high school, the thing that makes me smile most is all of you. I never dreaded going to school because I knew I would get to spend the day with such amazing people. The girls I shared classes with for the past 4 years are some of the kindest individuals I have ever met.
I was given nothing but positive encouragement from all of you, and I hope I was able to do the same in return. I know I have been so positively blessed to have had the opportunity to get to know so many influential people in such a short amount of time. I can't thank God enough for the love and support I have received from so many of you.
At graduation last night, I couldn't help but tear up throughout, well, throughout most of the ceremony :) I'm sad to see so many people who have changed me for the better leave.
You have all inspired me to be a better person. The way you've made me feel over the past 4 years is something I hope to pass on to other people in the years to come.
I know for many of us last night was not the last time we'll ever see each other. From now on, we'll just be seeing each other a little less frequently and in a different setting. Know that when we run into each other in Target, at the hairdresser, reunions, on Facebook and Twitter, 15 years down the road when we have families, or even at our own daughter's Seton graduation ceremony, I will be filled with such immense joy.
Our paths may cross more infrequently now, but I'm one to believe that God puts people in our lives for a specific reason. I like to think that our paths crossed these past 4 years for a reason, and I think that I will always carry a little bit of each of you with me as I start down a different path of life.
Good luck sweet friends in what comes next! I know that you will each accomplish such great things. Know that I'll be thinking of and praying for you.
Congratulations Seton Class of 2013! We've accomplished so much together, and I wish you all the best.
